I have slightly altered this section to include the "Modern" Carriers " HMS's. Ark Royal, Illustrious, and Invincible" as separate entries with the Suffix of T.D.C's. - "Through Deck Cruisers".
This strange name came about during the aftermath of the "Labour Party's 1966 Fleet Review", under Dennis Healey, when even to mention the term "Aircraft Carrier" was almost a "Treasonable Offence" !! ______________________________________________________________________________
To view a "Spoof" You-Tube interview with an "Admiral" covering the proposed "New", 21st Century, Aircraft Carriers and the operational use they will have :-
This "Spoof Video" is now much nearer to the truth than "Call Me Dave" and the rest of our "Political Class" may care to admit !!!.
We now find ourselves, in early 2011, with no carrier borne "Harrier" aircraft, what are left of the T.D.C. carriers being "Laid up", no carrier capable aircraft to be in service for at least the next 10 years, Maritime Reconnaissance "Nimrods" being broken up before they even enter service, even more Frigates and RN ships being disposed of, and, in fact, most of the rest of our Armed services being reduced to near Impotency.
There are many areas on this site where I "Wonder aloud" whether this destruction of our Forces are "European led", as it seems that no matter what we may think, "Europe" has the last word !! - Or, of course, it could all be down to a "Backdoor" method of bringing a "European Defense Force" into being, against most peoples will it must be stated !!

My thanks are also extended to Mr. Tony Drury, for the help he has provided, and who has a website devoted to "Escort Carriers" which can be accessed via the "Links" provided from "HERE" and from the links section found on my sites "Frontpage".
